G.A. Rich & Sons, based in Deer Creek, Illinois, is a commercial
plumbing company providing contract services across the state of
Illinois with their 80+ commercial plumbers.
CHALLENGE:
G.A. Rich & Sons faced a rising experience mod and increasing workers’ compensation premiums. They needed to increase safety awareness in an effort to reduce their workers’ compensation costs.
ACTION PLAN:
Using the STEP5 Risk Management Process, Kuhl Insurance℠ met with owners and managers to educate leaders on how an experience modification rate impacts workers’ compensation premiums and ultimately – the bottom line. From there, the plan was to engage leaders and employees in safety awareness and safe work practices to reverse the trends.
IMPLEMENTATION:
Kuhl Insurance helped G.A. Rich & Sons facilitate supervisor training, implement weekly safety awareness meetings known as “tool talks,” and provided customized safety materials. G.A. Rich & Sons is now focused on managing costs through proactive safety practices.
RESULTS:
G.A. Rich & Sons positively impacted their experience mod and achieved a corresponding reduction in insurance premiums.
